Readability by Doug Abend - Readability seems to be a FREE magic wand to wave over cluttered text in order to bring about a clean, uncluttered look. Why should this matter? As Doug points out in his professional and informative Screencast, the struggling reader will find the text easier to focus on once it has been filtered through the Readability website. This site also has a mobile app and has articles can be downloaded to e-readers from this for future reference. I can't wait to share this find with my Special Ed department, in particular!
Lit2Go by Charlie Neal - Lit2Go is a FREE site filled with classic literature just waiting to be downloaded and heard and/or read by children and adults. There is no need to create an account. It's quick and easy to access and download the novels. Searches can be made by author, genre and readability. When a book is chosen, the readability level is given (based on Fleich-Kincaid). In addition, some selections come with a student activity built right in for ready-made lesson plans. Charlie does a great job showing all the features it offers in her screencast.
